I recently had the pleasure of doing a portrait session with the gifted and creatively skilled Tim Cavadini!
We had met on the set of the music video for "Arbeit" by the band Oehl, where Tim was doing the stills, and I immediately noticed his instinct for portraiture, just by his unintrusive manner and his curiosity to follow what was happening.
And that is how we proceeded on the day of our photo session - always in dialogue about how we could get the the essence of a headshot (i.e. essence of the person being photographed) and to do this in the most natural way, working primarily with available light, very little make-up, and hardly any retouching or effects.
